Nadezhda

Nadezhda is Marine Registry of Russia classed, she has an unrestricted region of sailing excluding polar and subpolar zones only. The ship is operated by the FSUE Rosmorport and is used for training of Russian maritime civil cadets.

While cruising aboard the ship, the cadets have an excellent opportunity to obtain knowledge of and skills on the ship arrangement, on how to operate her, they can comprehend the basics of navigation.

Sailing aboard the “Nadezhda” tempers a person, helps to start a real seamen’s friendship, elaborates the qualities of mutual help and understanding that are so necessary for every seamen.

She is a single-hull, three-mast, three-deckhoused ship with steel masts and yards. The ship is full-rigged, that is of frigate type. The main sails amount to the number of 26, of which 14 are square sails, 12 are fore and aft sails and the sails total area is about 3,000 m2. The rigging and sails are operated manually.

The name of “Nadezhda” (good hope) is traditional for the Russian fleet. The first ever ship to bear the name – a three-mast huckor – was built at the Bazhenins’ shipyard in the vicinity of Kholmogors in 1728. Maritime Academy. The Academy is the center of marine education and training in the Far East of Russia. It provides education and training for specialists in technical, natural science and humanitarian areas in compliance with the national and international programs.
